· Meet Me ·

My name is Michael Bauer and I am a certified business professional… but before that happened, I served for a total of 11 years in the United States Air Force and then the California Air National Guard.  As a civilian I started out in retail but I was able to leverage my technical skills and start a position soldering and testing circuit boards for a startup biotech firm.  From there I branched up and out into different industries and roles where I continued to learn and grow.  I faced new challenges and opportunities and I thrived.  Eventually, I landed in the tech sector in the Pacific Northwest where I worked at Microsoft as a Software Test Engineer and Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for almost 11 years, and then spent another 6 years working for them as a contractor.  I made the jump to Product/Project Management with T-Mobile.  Initially I was working as a contractor and then as a permanent full-time employee where I worked for another 8 years and I continued to grow and thrive.

Throughout my career, I have had to listen, adapt, and learn.  There was formal and informal training.  Sometimes I was a formal leader or mentor and sometimes I was an informal leader or mentee.  However, through all of that I discovered that one of the things that I was particularly suited to and probably the thing that I enjoyed more than anything else… was in mentoring others.  I enjoy helping others, and I especially enjoy watching them grow and thrive with my guidance.

And this is what eventually motivated me to spin up the Raven Feather Group… because so many companies have little or nothing to offer in terms of formal mentoring or coaching within the organization.  I don’t know if they have dismantled these programs or if they never really had them in the first place, but it seems to coincide with the trend away from promoting from within.  Individuals wishing to grow their skills and prepare for advancement in their careers are left to seek out their own growth opportunities and resources.  There is a lot of material about personal and professional growth on the web or in print, but most of it is the same, and almost all of that is very generic.  It is helpful, but only to a point.  What most people need is the objective guidance of an experienced business and tech professional who can take the time to understand the specific needs, goals, and objectives of the individual and to help that individual explore options and opportunities available to them and then set a strategy and goals toward optimizing for success.

I strongly encourage you to explore my LinkedIn profile.  Look over my experience.  Read the recommendations that others wrote about me.  If you still have questions, use the button below to contact me.    I am certain that we can work together to get you situated and headed toward the role, goals, or aspirations you want to achieve.
